Miniature Book. 2 9/16 x 2 3/8 inches. 93, [1 blank] pp. Half-title, double-page title page printed in red and black with a silhouette illustration, 5 decorative initials, 7 full-page illustrations; text clean, unmarked. Quarter light blue calf, marbled paper over boards, spine titled in black; binding square, rubbed. Good. Philipp Otto Runge was a German Romantic painter and draughtsman who died young. Early in his career, Runge published written versions of two local folk fairy tales, "The Fisherman and His Wife," and "The Almond Tree," which were later included among the tales published by the Brothers Grimm.
