LIMITED EDITION of 250 copies, this is copy number 134, printed with Trinite type by Joh. Enschede en Zonen, Haarlem, the Netherlands, bound by Reliure d'Art du Centre, S.A., Limoges France with Cockerell end-papers. John Updike's humorous sociological study of the bore first appeared in the New Yorker and was anthologized in the book Assorted Prose in 1965. The New York Times headline for Updike's obituary reads "John Updike, a Lyrical Writer of the Middle-Class Man, Dies at 76."
