Miniature Book. 2 x 1 1/4 inches. Unpaginated. [8] pp. Text in various colors and type faces, embellished with ornaments and illustrations; text clean, unmarked. Decorative stiff paper wrappers; binding square and tight. Glen Dawson's copy without distinguishing marks. RGKK819-134. Fine. "This is the first issue of the Minimize and we hope it pleases you." It appears no other issues of Minimize were ever published. In this short issue, Serette demonstrates his playfulness with colors and type, each page being set and printed in a different type face and color. It includes a fingerprint portrait and a reproduction of the front cover and a page of his first miniature book, The Beagle's Adventure. Bradbury notes: "David W. Serette published books under his Yellow Kid Press imprint in Portland and Sabbathday Lake, Maine. His printing began and ended with serious car crashes. In 1966 at the age of 32, he took up printing as rehabilitation for hand and arm injuries suffered in a crash. With a full-time job as a television producer, he printed as a hobby. Serette died 27 years later from injuries sustained in another crash. Bradbury, p. 328. REFERENCE: Bradbury, 20th Century US Miniature Books, No. 2658.
