Father Andrew Garriga (1843-1915) was a native Catalan who was educated in Spain and Dublin, and arrived to serve as a priest in San Francisco in June 1868. It is believed that Garriga compiled this list of remedies between 1900 and 1905 when he served the Catholics attached to Mission San Antonio, in Monterey County, California.
